Hello all - I had my first weigh in Saturday and am thrilled to say that I lost 8 lbs and 3 inches - yippeeee! I am so pleased as I only started the diet monday 1st March. I am already well into the swing of things and have been trying lots of recipes. I have done stuffed pepper, houmous and mountain bread crisps, lots of soups and I also love toasted cheese mountain bread sarnies. The only thing I am finding hard is the flax seed as even with my morning yoghurt it makes me gag a bit. I just read a thread where someone puts it in their apple though with splenda and seeds etc so I am going to try that tonight.
The only thing I have hated is chicory - tasted like nail varnish remover!!! I just dont have any and seem to have found enough other things to get me through. I am a bit worried as I have a wedding coming up 20th March...any tips anyone? Also - I have been having yoghurt in the mornings with fruit and a few times for ease i have had a single pot of natural fat free - which is only 150ml. I was missing my white coffee at weekend so i used about 20ml of skimmed milk in a coffee instead...does anyone know if this will make a huge difference? I only plan to do it once a week as I heated the milk and it seemed like a luxury after all the black coffee...thoughts anyone? Thanks for all the interesting recipes and posts - so much to read!

Well done on the loss, wish I could help on the milk thing, but I really have no idea. I have some tupperware tubs I take my yoghurt to work and stuff in so I always weigh it out. Could you maybe ring the consultant and ask. As for the wedding, maybe you could do the break the rules? I know it's early in your program, but I would at least speak to your consultant about it
![]() If you really find you can't deal with the seeds, I believe you can have flaxseed oil instead, another one to ask the consultant about

Hi, welcome to SS & very well done on your first week result.
Would ask your consultant about alternatives to flax seed as they are available. Would invest in some tupperware (or similar) tubs to measure your yoghurt out into , also check if you should be having fat free or low fat yoghurts. Also cheaper to buy in larger tubs! With the black coffee I would suggest to keep trying as your tastes change, I had a cup of white coffee earlier this year ( after drinking black for 15 months!) & I had to pour it away. (must admit that since following lifestyle I do have an occasional cup of latte/cappucino) good luck for this week.

Hi Vicki,
Well done, fantastic weight loss. I asked about milk in my coffee as well. I was told that if I had to have it white, I could have it after my breakfast and only 1 cup per day. I now drink it black but at weekends have the luxury of a white coffee. Good luck for your next weigh in. Carol

Hi Vicki,
Congratulations on your amazing loss! It sounds as though you have taken to the plan really well, trying lots of recipes and new ideas. I use my seeds in the seedy apple crumble (recipe on here somewhere) every single day and I love it - I really look forward to it. The only other way I can use my seeds in is my yoghurt (I have low fat greek-style with frozen (defrosted) raspberries) and my seeds and again, I love it. Lots of other people put them in salads or soups but I'm not too keen to try that (especially the flax seeds). Good luck in your second week - hope you have another fantastic loss x

Thanks for all the replies I will ask at clinic on Saturday about the Yoghurt. I have been buying fat free so no idea if its meant to be low fat. I will look at my plan again too.
Thanks for that apple crumble recipe - i have had it every night this week - its lovely! I did it with the flax one night though and it was too much 'crumble' - do you add water or anything? I will persevere with the seeds - at the moment i wait until i get to the last few mouthfuls of youghurt and then put it in and then its not do bad as doesnt ruin the whole dish. Thanks for the frozen berries tip too - cant believe how much cheaper they are than fresh and so easy to just defrost what I need. Onto coffee - am getting used to black so will keep trying with it. Now i am off to find a recipe for tomorrows dinner - need to keep some variety or I will get bored but so far so goo...weigh in Saturday so will see how it goes

Have you tried spinach & ricotta 'cannelloni'?? Use you cheese allowance and spinach (wilted) as your veg allowance mixed together with some salt, pepper & nutmeg. Spread over mountain bread & roll it up. Cut in half & pop in the oven for about 15 - 20 mins. I sometimes use tomato allowance and less spinach & pop on top of it before putting in the oven.
